november 2010 at molly’s cafe

yes, another month has whizzed by and it is just about time for another month to get going. november is a mixed month, so take a look at what is coming up:

wed nov 3 molly’s cafe will be closed for the evening for a mid-thanksgiving dinner for PAWI,  professional american women in istanbul, which actually includes canadian women.  since the canadian thanksgiving was in october, this is the sort of midpoint.

sat nov 6   6:00pm   poetry reading: john ash and mel kenne these two well established poets will read a selection from their work.

 

 

 

 

frankie!!

 

 

sat nov 6  9:00 – 11:00pm   ben weeks will do his swing gig yet again.  he sings frank sinatra and other way oldies for an entertaining evening. 10 lira entrance

 

 

 

waiting for the sacrifice

 

tues nov 16 through fri nov 19 is kurban bayram (feast of the sacrifice), and since it starts on a tuesday, a lot of people will take the monday off for a very long week off.  therefore there won’t be music at molly’s cafe on nov 13 or 20, unless there is a surprise (the turbans are coming back, so maybe they will play)

thurs nov 25  7:30pm there will be a full thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings.  60 lira, all included, reservations required.

sat nov 27   9:00 – 11:00pm  asena akan will once again sing her cool jazz for us.  10 lira entrance.

    I see that you are hosting Thanksgiving at your cafe. Is there any chance that you might also be showing the football games that afternoon? If not, do you have any thoughts about where one might be able to watch them?

    • hi sima. not showing football– that is not part of my own tradition and there is no tv in the cafe. no idea where you could watch them except on the internet. good luck!
