This month is full of interesting things!  be sure to come to at least some!

Sat. April 2   9:00 to 11:00 pm Back by popular demand! Ivir Zivir with lively Balkan music. 10 lira for the music






Fri. April 8   9:00 to 11:00 pm    Sicilian music with Alexandro and friends on guitar, violin, percussion, and vocals. 10 lira for the music





Sat. April 9   9:00 to 11:00 pm All the way from Canada! Martin Anthony TV Host, and prominent voice over specialist, and Tim Foran, from The Orvilles, present an evening of raucous song, dance, fire eating, and traditional shadow puppetry. Or at least some of the above. 10 lira for the music



Wed. April 13   9:00 to 11:00 pm Natalia Mann playing what she calls schmaltzy jazz on harp. Natalia is in town for only a while, so be sure to get a midweek lift. 10 lira for the music




Fri. April 15   7:30 pm  Scandinavian Dinner Literally a smorgasbord of delicacies: Shooting Star (Panfried fish topped with shrimps, mayo, cress and lemon slices), the veterinarian’s midnight snack (Pork Paté with salted meat, onions and cress), thin slices of roast beef with fried onion and remoulade, and for dessert, rod grod med flode (a berry dessert served with milk and cream- the most famous Danish dessert and very yummy!) 30 lira by reservation only



Sat. April 16   9:00 to 11:00 pm    Max Kornhauser and friends (aka the iteful ites) play original songs that deal with the troubles of the current world, the hypocrisy of youth, and the follies and fallacies of consumerism. Having grown up being promised a dream that cannot be delivered, the ites are ready to offer a new way. 10 lira for the music


Fri. April 22   7:00 pm   Opening: Shirley Verrette ‘Threads’. Born in the U.S., Shirley Verrette has lived and worked in Istanbul for 11 years. She returned to painting three years ago. Her new work threads times past and present, people here and gone, places there and back. Check out her website


Sat. April 23   4:30 pm   Poetry Reading: This time the talented poets of Kadir Has University faculty will be reading from their work. Poets include Mel Kenne, John High, Andrea Libin, Christoper Sawyer Laucanno, and Patricia Pruitt.



Sat. April 23   9:00 to 11:00 pm    Alper Sari and Yildiray Kara are two young musicians beginning to break into the music scene. Come support them. 10 lira for the music




Sun. April 24   10:00 am to 2:00 pm Celebrate Easter with a nice brunch including traditional Easter breads, quiche, scambled eggs, fruit, cheese There may be a few eggs around left by the Easter bunny… 25 lira, including coffee or tea




Sun. April 24   2:00 to 5:00 pm Look into your future with tarot readings by Janet Schaefer. You’re already lucky– the reading is in English and costs only 10 lira for 10 minutes.



Fri. April 29   7:30 pm   Mexican food! Enchiladas (vegetarian and non vegetarian), spicy refried beans, Mexican rice, guacamole, and flan. 30 lira by reservation only




Sat. April 30   9:00 to 11:00 pm   Yalcin Erturk playing saz and singing traditional and new music. 10 lira for the music
