November 201 at Molly’s Café

Wow, the months are really passing by quickly! I guess that’s what happens when one works a lot…

November is half full or half empty, depending on how you look at it. Kurban Bayram, or the Feast of the Sacrifice, officially starts on Nov. 6 and goes through the 9th. However, since the 6th is a Sunday, some lucky people will be able to take both weekends. Therefore, I have not scheduled anything at the café for those two weekends. The café will be open, so if you are wandering around on your days off, stop by.

In fact, as winter settles in, this is a good time to come by and buy some books, dvds, or cds, all at reasonable prices.

Also, the second hand shop has some very nice jackets for both men and women, as well as some great boots for women. Recently some designer shoes have come in and not only are they very chic, they are also bigger sizes for those yabanci women who can’t find them. There are also a few great pieces of furniture, so stop by and shop.

The rest of the month will be full. On Tues. Nov. 15, at 7:30pm the café will be closed for a special dinner.

On Sat. Nov. 19, there will be a poetry reading at 4:30– Derick Mattern and friends. Come and hear their new and old work.

Also on Nov. 19 Erdal and friends will be playing traditional Turkish music from 9:00 to 11:00 pm. As usual, there will be a 10 lira charge for the music. They will play saz, ney, and percussion.

Thurs. Nov. 24 is American Thanksgiving and we will be having turkey and all the trimmin’s. The dinner is reservation only and seating is family style. We will eat at 7:30. This year the cost is 75 lira, all included. There is a capacity for only 30 people, so reserve soon.

So far there is nothing scheduled for the following weekend, but stay tuned in case something pops up.

This is the month for giving thanks and I would like to thank the many people who have supported me and my café.

See you soon!
